Here Comes The Rain Again... My Most Offensive Post To Date.

Monday evening
6:49pm
Rancho Relaxo

“Today young men on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather…”

- Bill Hicks

Well, speaking of weather, it’s about to rain again here at the Ranch and I just love bad weather. Hell, I guess that the majority of other folks around here do too as all the neighbors were out monitoring the incoming storm when I went out to roll up the windows on Wang (my Jap car.) I had even thought about meteorology as a career a couple of years ago when I began college and quickly changed that school of thought once I found out how much mathematics was involved in the field. And as everyone is well aware - math sucks.
Screw math.

Anyway, let’s address the above quote and get out of here. This quote is from a stand-up routine in which Hicks is talking about how tired the bull-shit news that’s always leaving a shit stain on our TVs is. He said that once, just once, he wanted to hear “the real news.” The quote was also popularized in a Tool song that the title of now escapes my mind. If you haven’t heard any of the late Bill Hicks’ stand-up then please find a way to. He was probably one of the most progressive comedians of our generation and deserves a listen if you’re into off-colored humor and are not easily offended. And if you are, well then fuck you. Don’t listen.

Holler...

Today's post is short and sweet, courtesy of howstuffworks.com.

I Don't Remember, I Don't Recall...

Sunday afternoon
3:11pm
Rancho Relaxo

Well, the hangover regs in at about a 7.6 on the Richter scale, definitely not the worse I've had but still full-bodied none the less. Sometimes it seems amazing to me what the human body can take. I just read my buddy MO’s blog and he was saying something to the effect of blowing out fire and all kinds of wicked sounding shit that may have happened on Saturday night; I seem to have the blessing/curse of not remembering too much of what went on. I’m just glad someone coherent was there to instruct us to actually blow the fire out, a detail that one like me could easily overlook in a hurried effort to punish a free shot of firewater!

Anyway, it’s the typical Sunday for me – hoping the Cowboys kick-hell out of whoever’s up this weekend, and yelling at the TV while arrogantly maintaining that my armchair quarterback skills far surpass the actual QB’s and coaching staffs.

Ok, enough for now.

Today’s linky goodness brought to you by the letter “B”: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B

First let's start with thanks to the folks from the DFW area that always come see us, the Mo Robson Band, and staff at Adair’s. As always, Grant’s the man! He always comes through if something needs attention and always makes us feel at home. Special thanks from me to Kevin for loaning me that fine Mesa rig of his. Man, that bass amp gives a kick-ass back/foot message!

Well, the rain finally hit today here in P-town, and thankfully it wasn’t as bad as I had expected it to be. Hell, it’s a picnic compared to what the folks in LA have been going through. My father was finally able to get through to me via telephone today to let me know that he made it through yet another hurricane in Baton Rouge. I think they had something like 9.5” of rain since Rita tore-ass through town.

And now I guess that it’s off to Buffalo Joe’s for a couple of brews. Two friends drove a long way in for the weekend, Shad from Nashville, and Dameon from West Texas. Between these two fellas, MO, Steph, and I, we should have a pretty good time! Either that or just get cross-eyed silly. Reports on just how devastating the hangover is should be posted around this time tomorrow

c-ya!

On The Run Again...

Well, apparently it's going to get worse before it gets better this hurricane season. I just woke up and turned on the news - the morning ritual, and folks from Corpus, Galveston, Houston, and everywhere in between are no doubt heading up our way looking for higher and drier ground. Thankfully, I will be at Randy White's BBQ in Addison tonight watching my buddy Shad Blair kicking ass in the semi-finals for the Shiner Rising Star Competition. It looks like it should stay pretty dry here in N.E. Texas at least until late Sunday/early Monday. I've never felt so fortunate living in Paris, Texas.

Dad, Scott, Curtis, Aubrey, and Trudi... I wish you guys well and I hope that you have a safe trip.
Good luck to all!

Moving In And Moving On...

This would be the view from the window while sitting at Mission Control. It's so awesome to see some grass and trees outside your place for a change rather than the concrete and automobile views that most complexes seem to offer these days. I can't wait until the fall weather finally kicks in and I can open the windows and hear the swooshing of the wind rolling through the trees. Too many consecutive days of 90-100° weather makes the longing for that cool crisp air stronger than ever. Sometimes it seems like it may never get here, but hope is still alive.

I am looking forward to opening up for the Mo Robson Band this Friday night at Adair's Saloon in Deep Ellum. We've never played a Friday night there and it will be interesting to see what the turnout will be like. Normally I'd already be slobbering at the thought of sinking my eager teeth into the hide of that world-class cheeseburger, but this time I may quickly skin out after we play and run over to Deep Sushi and try them out. We always drive right past it when we roll into town, and I think that I can scarf down some pieces and a roll or two and still make it back in time to catch the bulk of the show. We'll see.

I drove past Dillon's when I was headed to the store to stock up on groceries and the parking lot looked pretty sparce. I think that Monday Night Football may be killing off some of the open-mic folks that normally make it out to the bar. Perhaps O'Neal will end up moving this weekly event to another day like Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also, if you reached this blog from any sourse other than the MOB website, then get over to it and check it out ASAP. Our new webmaster, Trent, is doing a killer job tweaking it out!

Finally, today's link to complete stupidity: http://ws.cdyne.com/NotifyWS/phonenotify.asmx?op=NotifyPhoneEnglishBasic

It will call anyone that you enter a telephone number for and in a female's voice will say to the person called whatever you type in to say. It's free, untraceable, and comes up as "caller unknown." Yes, I tried it on myself, and yes it works.

Hasta pronto!

Sore As A Whore With Four On The Floor...

Fock!

Pain is the word of the day.

It only took Charlie, Hillary and I about 4 hours to move all of the big stuff on Friday but the soreness feels like it could last four days! God, I need to be in better shape for only being 32.

With the arrival of an extra bedroom at the new apartment, Mission Control has been resurrected in what’s to be called the new office! The PC with all its goodies, a comfy sofa, a television (football on right now), guitar amp, guitars, a small refrigerator, and a crapper, what more could you want? Indeed. Life has gotten a lot better since the move and it’s only been two days. Hell, we only moved about two miles down the road but the difference in the two places feels like two different cities. The flood damage from the upstairs apartment, our reason for moving, was just too much to handle and this brand-new place seems like a godsend. It’s nice to wake up and be able to forget what the smell of molding walls and wood is like.

I pretty much have the entire week off to slowly settle in.

Ahh… life is good.

Rain² Go Away!

Well #?%!.

It rained cats and dogs today and I was unable to finish moving. I still have all of the BIG stuff to move, and I really wanted to be somewhat settled in by Sunday so I could relax after the gig on Saturday night. Anyway, the silver lining in the cloud is that my net service stayed on at the old place for a day longer than scheduled, allowing me to spill today's useless drivel. Oh, and I guess that I can watch the Putzident's address here in a couple of minutes too. Let's see what today's "We're gonna 'A - B', 'cause we're 'B - A'ers" story's gonna be!

Wakey²... Eggs and Bakey!

Jeebus!

I just slept for 15 hours straight, tired of (not) packing I guess! Anyway, my internet service could be interrupted for a couple of days during the move, I'll just have to wait and see. I'll update when availability permits.

The Road Diary has been updated with the very first three shows I did with the fellas, complete with
hotlinks to all sorts of stuff! I'll get back on it later this week after I get settled in from the move.
